About Birgunj

Delhi Public School, India (DPS) is among the largest institutions providing education at school level in India. Although its name suggests otherwise, it is not localized or limited to the Delhi region, and it also has responsibility for a number of schools in other countries. Its administrative body is the non-profit-making organization known as the Delhi Public School Society. Delhi Public Schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in New Delhi.
There are now over 150 Delhi Public Schools in India with the largest schools located at Vijaipur,Bhopal, Rama Krishna Puram, Mathura Road, Noida, Udaipur, Dehradun, Faridabad, Dwarka, and Vasant Kunj. Outside India there are 13 Delhi Public Schools in ten different countries: United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Indonesia, Kuwait, Nepal (Birgunj, Dharan and Biratnagar), Qatar, Saudi Arabia (Jeddah and Riyadh), Singapore and Uganda (Kampala).[1]
Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, founded in 1949 was the first Delhi Public School. It was founded by educationist Reverend James Tytler. It was followed in 1972 by Delhi Public School, R K Puram. Both schools, along with the 1991-established Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj are today among the most respected schools in India
DPS Aligarh was established in 1998 and is a co-educational day cum boarding school. The school is located at Aligarh-Agra and occupies three different campuses. DPS Junior Wing and DPS Senior Wing are both situated on the Agra Road. A second DPS Junior Wing is located at Civil Lines and occupies a panoramic piece of land of more than 26 acres (110,000 m2). The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The school's motto is Service before self.
The school's three phases of construction are over and the last phase is in the pipeline which includes the construction of a swimming pool. DPS Aligarh has hosted the International Girls Athletic Meet on two occasions since 1998. They are INTERNATIONAL GIRLS ATHLETIC MEET IN 2004 and THE GIRLOMPICS IN 2008.
DPS, BangaloreDPS operates on the franchise model and thus aggressively expands - as of now there are 3 DPS schools in Bangalore - DPS North,DPS South and DPS East. They are owned mostly by the family of its owner, who is a leading politician. DPS North has been successful thanks to the DPS brand.The school has excellent infrastructure and all 3 branches are built around great localities (in the rural outskirts) away from the pollution and sound of cities.The schools have also incorporated computers in teaching.
DPS, BathindaMain article: Delhi Public School, BathindaDPS Bathinda was established in 2003 at Goniana road, Bathinda in the state of Punjab in India. It is a day cum residential senior secondary school situated in a sprawling campus of 14 acres having the facilities for swimming,horse riding,football,basketball,hockey and cricket. The school has 1429 students and 90 staff in September 2009. It has two hostels—one for boys and the other for girls. DPS, BhilaiDPS Bhilai[1] is one of the satellite schools in the chain of schools run by The Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi. The co-educational school was established in Bhilai on 20th August, 1985, in collaboration with the public sector undertaking, Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL), which provided the land (16 Acres) and assistance in various other matters at its inception. This school is one of the mother schools of the DPS Society, i.e. it was directly established by the Society not franchised. This school is one of the top Delhi Public Schools producing many IITians, NTSE Scholars and CBSE Board examination state toppers.
